More people more problems. Everyday our earth is being damaged and abused by humans. We release greenhouse gases, use up nonrenewable resources, cut down forests, and are constantly polluting our air. The greatest threat to our environment is overpopulation.
Humans cause the majority of the problems currently impacting our environment negatively. The more people that are on the earth the more resources are required to be used to provide them with their needs. As our population climbs so does our need for fossil fuels such as gasoline, oil, and coal. When they are burned they release carbon dioxide into the air creating a greenhouse effect. Our steadily increasing population requires more food and housing. To build these houses forests are being demolished and animals environments are being destroyed. With their environment destroyed, many animals die and can become extinct. People need to cut down forests to make room to grow crops and food. Where humans go, trash follows. Whether its the beach or in a ditch on the side of the road, garbage is everywhere. The rise of our population directly correlates with the increase of trash in the world. People pollute their surroundings with garbage like water bottles, granola bar wrappers, and other trash. Not only does the amount of trash increase when the population does, but so does the number of cars in the world. Cars pollute our air with all of the exhaust that they create.
Because of overpopulation every other environmental issue plaguing our earth becomes magnified. People cause most of our environmental problems and show little signs of slowing down. If there were less humans inhabiting the earth many of the problems would decrease in severity and would benefit our environment.
