Before The 24 Hour Disconnect

I'm going to be doing a 24 hour disconnect where I won't use any technology. Doing a technology disconnect takes a little bit of preparation because we live in a world where technology is heavily integrated into our daily lives. We use technology to communicate, to do homework, and to entertain ourselves. Without technology I will find other ways to entertain myself; I will be more in the moment and might talk to people that I usually wouldn’t. Before I do the 24 hour disconnect there are many things I need to accomplish. I am notifying all of my teachers that I won’t be able to use technology. I have told my parents that I won’t be responding to their texts or calls. I have completed some of my assignments that need to be done online and turned them in ahead of time. I think that the most challenging part of disconnecting will be not answering the people I normally talk to on my phone. I think that the easiest part will be not using my ipad for school because I’ve already done all of my school work. I think that my phone will be the piece of technology that will be the most difficult to give up because I use it for so many things such as communicating with others and going on various apps. The easiest type of technology to give up I think will be TV, because I don’t watch TV very often. I wouldn’t say that I’m excited about the assignment, but I don't think that I will really notice the absence of technology because I don’t use technology that often. I’ve tried to be aware of how often I have used technology in the past because I have tried to avoid being the type of person who is on their phone 24/7. It will be weird to see how much I truly miss using technology throughout 24 hours.
